We are pleased to inform you that Daniel Held, the Comptroller of the organization, has returned to work after undergoing a double bypass surgery on January 25th of this year.
We asked Daniel for more information on his procedure, this is what he had to said:
“On 1/25/2023 I had open heart surgery to complete a double bypass. They used the Left internal mammary artery to bypass my left anterior descending artery and they used a vein from my leg to bypass a diagonal artery. I was in the hospital 5 days and the hardest part of the recovery is dealing with sternum and chest discomfort. I’m currently in cardiac rehab and will be until the middle of May. I’m back to running on the treadmill and can manage 22 minutes so far. I’m still under a weight restriction of 20lbs until 4/25 which is because of the sternum. I’m told it will take about 6 months until I feel completely normal again.”
It brings us great joy that Daniel had a successful surgery and is feeling good enough to work again. It’s fascinating to think that with modern medicine, good faith, and strong will that someone can have open heart surgery and be running just 2 months later. Thank you for letting us share your story and if you see Daniel in the near future, make sure to give him a well-deserved high five.
